I'm curious as to which everyone thinks is best, there are only dreamcast and later games and only 'pure' platformers.
well?

Well, For me it's a tie between Sonic Adventure and Sonic Heroes. But regardless, SA wins my vote.
Everyone should know how much I hate Sonic Adventure 2 by now.

Sonic Adventure 2. Sonic Adventure was good but lacked innovation. Sonic Heroes was just stupid. And Shadow the Hedgehog... you can check my review topic for that.

Sonic Adventure 2(Battle version, ala GameCube) is my favorite of them. I like SA1's ability to walk around almost anywhere, but that's about it.

eh, you voiced your opinion, more than saeed would do, he'd most likely just go with the flow and vote for who's winning.
whoa, kind of hipocritic aren't I?

Sonic Adventure: Nearly no plot at all. Robotnik's back, Knuckles lost the Master Emerald again, Amy is chasing after Sonic, some crazy psycho robot with a gun is running around the city, and Sonic has to save the day again. The plot just appears at the end of the game, then disappears again.
Sonic Adventure 2: Way too hard to collect all the emblems. I'd rather get a USB Port for my Memory card to get all 180 emblems instead of going around. Plus, I just don't like some aspects of the gameplay after having to play the SAME FREAKING STAGE ONE HUNDRED TIMES.
Sonic Heroes: Kept the same gameplay as the older Sonic games did. Sure, each time was basically the same, but there were still challenges that at least kept me going (Chaos Emeralds)
Shadow the Hedgehog: I kept getting stuck on some parts of the game (The Forest part near the end of one of the Hero paths with Rouge, shooting down the plane the president is in). Also, it's RATHER annoying to keep hearing your ally yell at you because you were being attacked by your own side.
Yeah, I mostly listed the negatives of each game except Heroes, but I don't care.

Go Sonic Adventure 2. It wasn't quite Sonic, but the space opera sort of plot was more exciting than any of the other "3D" sonics.
PSST. Why isn't Sonic 3D Blast on the list? It has 3D in its name, after all!

Sonic 3D Blast is a "2.5D" game, not fully 3D. If that was 3D then Mario's first 3D game would be Super Mario RPG.
Sonic Adventure 2: Way too hard to collect all the emblems.
The only thing that's hard about the emblems is the Chaos Races, and that's just a way to raise replay value. The emblems are for hardcore fans (like myself) to get everything unlocked in the game.
Sonic Adventure: Nearly no plot at all.
I laugh at that.
Sonic Heroes: Kept the same gameplay as the older Sonic games did.
eh?

yeah, sonic zeroes sucked past the mountains levels. it was all grinding from there on in, and I don't remember much of that in the originals.
sonic adventure had plenty of story, for a platformer, if you watched the f*cking cut-scenes.
sonic adventure 2 was a great game so long as you don't obsess about getting all of the emblems.

First off, way to drop the F-Bomb. You sound REALLY mature now. *thumbs up*
Regardless, I don't remember all this grinding from Sonic Heroes that you're talking about. I know you do it in almost every level, but what's the big deal? At least I'm not having to look for three stupid emerald shards, one piece at a time, of course. All over a fricken huge course that takes forever for someone to get somewhere.
And thank God I'm not forced to go around in some bulky machine walker thing, only to slow down the pace to make the game seem longer. The thing about it is, I did'nt mind Gamma's levels in SA, because there was still a sense of speed because you were timed. Tails and Eggman's levels in SA2 take forever. FOREVER to finish.

are you kidding me? those are the flaws of sonic adventure 2, sure, although you forget the poor handling on the mechs that eggman and tails use. but lots of the later levels of heroes are more or less floating platforms with rails in between that stretched for miles. the only exception was the haunted castle and that was dull.

SA2, the first Sonic Adventure had too much Chao raising(which took away too much of the stage), and Sonic Heroes is a disappointment in terms of the 3-person team idea derived from Sonic3K due to stupid physics(no true upwards flying with tails and no climbing walls with knuckles)
