"Super Mario RPG" is the greatest RPG of all time!
And behind it are Paper Mario, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, and Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time.
All RPGs not starring Mario are irrelevant.

^^ That is not a good sample of JRPG games. Chrono Trigger is practically deified in JRPG circles, along with FFVI. SMRPG is a very good JRPG (it was my first), and it ranks along with those two, in my mind.
What interests me is the context in which those games were released; I think it adds to the appreciation of them, like knowing the vintage of a fine wine. CT was made by the "dream team". FFVI was the last FF on the SNES. SMRPG was the last project Square had with Nintendo. Every now and then I stumble upon an article about things like that and I just eat those up.

SMRPG is pretty damn good, but the Paper Mario series lacks immensity in scope IMO.

FF, LoL, FFT, LSSSC, and FFVI would like to have words with you.
@ Ace wasn't Square working on some sort of 3D FFVI project that eventualy became FFVII?
