See, I don't play any of those characters. I just like to be Isabelle and shoot my funny little slingshot.

Pig Brawler might actually be my favorite of the Mii costumes in this round, its such a bizarre choice that I can't help but love it. The Bomberman costume looks fantastic too, I like that they went the extra mile with it. Travis (from Travis) getting a Mii costume is also cool, though I know a lot of people would have preferred him as a fighter.

Creepers originated as Notch's failed attempt at making a model for a pig (their shape, obviously not their color), which is probably why they decided on a pig brawler to go alongside the creeper brawler, but there are so many other MC mobs that are actually humanoid and wouldn't have looked so weird.

Test driving the new guy:
Even if you run out of resources & weapons, you're never truly defenseless; your mobility is far more limited, however.
You also can't summon your table if you only don't have wood, nor will it respawn(!), but you *can* mine barehanded.
Classic route is all horde battles. The bonus stage is terrifying with such low jumps.
9 board spirits. The first 8 are all pretty fair challenges (relative to their ranks). I haven't tried the Ender Dragon yet, but I expect it to be complete bullcrap like all the other Legend-class DLC spirits.

--Big hurtbox & lightweight, slow attacks, weakish throws.
--Masamune sweetspot in middle for slash, tip for stab
--Only speaks Japanese
--Winged Form when "in danger" (varies based on circumstances): faster, stronger, 3rd jump, super armor on smashes, goes away when you die or you kill.
--Down smash: shield breaker
--Fair: wall stab
--Dair: Hell's Gate, goes through platforms
--B: Flare/Megaflare/Gigaflare, can't store charge

kinda bummed they couldnt make the geno hat be a full head cover, at least then he could have been like the sans/cuphead/fallout boy costumes where they actually look like the character.

marth-joker looks fun, i'm interested to try him out.

Marth-Joker is extremely light & has plenty of lag on his moves, so you can punish the crap out of him (if you can get him to miss). Hella fun to play, though. His Classic route flies by on low difficulty. Bahamut Zero is shockingly easy for a Legend.

Yeah I've noticed in fighting Sephiroth that staying fairly close to him and having a good trigger finger on your shield makes him a lot easier to deal with.

^Ditto for Bahamut Zero, I went in with my best spirit loadout expecting a really tough battle but I ended up beating him first try with little difficulty.

Thanks to a covid spike in Japan, Sakurai is back to filming at home, where I just noticed he appears to have every PlayStation alongside his Nintendo consoles.

Coming later today: Pyra & Mythra!
--Rex appears in taunts/Finals/victory screens
--Pyra is stronger, has better reach, & uses fire; Mythra is faster, jumps higher, & uses light.
--Down B: Swap
--DLC Board: 5 new spirits (along with the past Xenoblade 2 character spirits), new fight for Poppi (previously a summon), first official art for Pneuma, Rex now enhanceable?

I know they're old now but I didn't get to complain about the last few character additions, so I will bestow these complaints upon you all now; I don't like them as choices. A 3rd Square character should've been Crono/Sora, or basically anyone not from Final Fantasy 7. And Pyra/Mythra are just generic waifus, they're not iconic and many don't even know who they are. Even Steve made more sense than them despite not fitting well.

Anyway, I can't complain about Kazuya. I don't care about him but he's the kind of character to expect.

There's only one character left, right? I'm pretty sure they're going to be a Rabbid at this point. I can definitely see them closing this out with another cross-marketing choice.

Yeah, you're surely right about that. He's still a cool character, could've been much worse. I just think it's disappointing that we'll end up with the whole cast of FF7 in the Smash series before we even get a whiff of Tidus or Squall, let alone more obscure characters.

Some of the notes I took while watching (saving full detail for Character of the Month later this week)....

--The staff is very far away.
--"One day, I heard a voice from the heavens. It might've been from a company with the Japanese character for 'heaven' in its name. I wonder how this'll be translated overseas..." That means Nintendo made him do this.
--Mario attacks much faster than Kazuya.
--Kazuya was picked over Heihachi because of his "Devil's Gene" trait.
--Explains SSB controls to Tekken fans.
--Extra Rage, once per stock, triggers above 100% or below quarter HP. Extra move: Rage Drive, replaces grab, Heaven's Door, or Dragon Uppercut, ends Rage state (as will wiffing Rage Drive a few times or taking too much more damage).
--Auto-facing in 1-v-1. Minor super armor.
--Needed buffs before release, or else too slow & weak to stand a chance.
--All the extra moves from E3 trailer are ground attacks & pummel/throws, not specials/aerials/smashes. Ground attacks are kinda 8-way directional moves, with combos for many of them.
--Jab combo & dash attack change based on rhythm.
--Crouch attacks require full crouch before inputting, separate from down tilts.
--Smashes have super armor.
--Sakurai thinks not a lot of moves attack up through platforms, is not correct.
--Crouch Dash is movement option with Shoryuken input, "makes your upper body invincible," grants access to Wind God Fist, Dragon Uppercut, Spinning Demon to Left Hook.
--Damaging side taunt: Demon's Wrath.
--Victory "fanfare" is Tekken announcer.
--Available tomorrow.

Stage: Mishima Dojo
--Breakable walls/ceiling.
--39 songs, 5 are new arrangements

10 spirit board challenges:
--Jin is upgradeable
--Heihachi Mii will change costume if you bought the Heihachi outfit.

Mii costumes:
Brawly - Shantae (with Burning Town song)
Swordy - Lloyd (ToS), Dragonborn, Dante.

Other:
--Sakurai loses his first 1-v-5 Squad Strike!
--Min Min amiibo in 2022.

It's so weird that many of the Mii costumes are way more interesting than most of the characters we get. Shantae, Dante, and Lloyd would be great. Then, of course, Geno.
