"And yet foolish."

Kal had swung the blade, and Rimin had no need to move. Why should he, when he was surrounded on all sides by his chosen element? A fist of dirt erupted from the side to hit the sword away from its target, though Rimin felt it cut his shoulder. More arms shot out and held the warrior along with his sword.

Rimin launched upwards out of the fissure with a little help from a rising stone. "Tell me. Why did you think it wise to not only jump down into a place that I can manipulate, but also fall into an obvious trap?"

He touched the shinsa to the edge of the fissure. It morphed to dirt and filled itself in, burying the knight alive almost instantly. Rimin sighed. He would leave a passage for air to reach the warrior's nose, but unless someone came to help him, or he vanished like Ashura had, he was done for. There was no room to swing a sword, opening his mouth would fill it with dirt, and he was effectively immobile with those earthen arms. Even if that spell he had used was still in effect, it would just be like a bubble in the ground. And a very small bubble at that.

Rimin knelt down by the air hole he had left and said, "I offer you the same ultimatum as the last fighter. If you can free yourself, do so. If not, hold your breath for ten seconds to admit defeat, and I will release you."

*Kal could not move, he did not even expect this person to have beaten him the way he did, but with the sand in his armor, he couldn't even pop his head up....Suddenly a white Flash appeared, and Rimin was once again in the tower. He looked to se several Swords, some rusted, some too covered in blood to try using, others in perfect condition. Of course with a wespon like his, he wouldn't worry about the weapons, just continue upwards, he continued to the 3rd floor and opened the door when he got there.*

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

*Rimin looked around to see nothing but a purple wasteland on a purple Sky. Outworld, as it is called to it's inhabitants. Rimin knew that whoever would face him now would have an uphill battle*

Nina: Ok, Ok, I know a battle right? These stupid tower rules.
Rimin: Tower Rules?

*Rimin saw a woman with Pink Hair, wearing a Brown Wizard's Hat, and a blue Robe holding a Brown Book. She just stared at Rimin until he made his move*

The forest vanished and Rimin saw blades all around him, bloodied and non. He paid no mind and continued up the tower.

He opened the door and stepped into purple on purple. "A strange land," he said, looking at the landscape.

"Ok. Ok. I know, a battle right? These stupid tower rules."

Rimin turned to face the speaker. "Tower rules?"

The woman had bright pink hair and wore robes of blue with a earth-colored wizard hat on her head. Clutched in one hand was a worn brown book. She waited for Rimin to make his move.

In one move he had the shinsa raised high and he brought it down into the earth, commanding, "Grand Fissure!"

The earth instantly cracked open and rushed at the woman, threatening to swallow her whole. Rimin followed up by swinging his weapon diagonally upwards both ways, each swing launching a chunk of ground at the woman.

No weapon. She appears to be a magic user, which means the rules have changed for this battle. Best be on my guard.

*Nina raised her hand and Pure Black Energy formed around her, Rimin couldn't see her, but he knew that she wasn't fast enough*
Nina: FAST!
*As Nina said this the Quake and 2 rocks flew towards her general area, All Rimin could hear were the rocks hitting the ground. The smoke started to clear. Rimin saw that the Quake and one rock missed, however the over rock went into a curve and hit Nina in the side of the head. She managed to get up but was obviously weakened by the rock. However, she suddenly ran, almost too fast for Rimin to follow, but he saw she was going to attack him. He raised his Shinsa ready to strike*
Nina: Stun
Rimin: huh?
*Rimin suddenly was frozen. He felt something holding his ribcage, almost about to crush it*
Nina:....good, now I can charge my attack...
*The Hold wasn't incredably strong, in fact Rimin felt it weaken as she was ready to unleash a sort of Fire Magic, however, at close range, it was doubtful he would be able to dodge it, even if he was fully capable of moving*
Nina: Flare3!
*A Fireball Shot out of her hand close enough to severly burn Rimin*

((Gone for good.))

"This has been fun. But Author calls me."

Rimin glowed, and twisted out of existence. The fire spell roared past, its target having completely left this dimension.

How's your nose feeling?

All right, I'm going to make it my mission to finish at least one of your towers; I don't like watching topics (especially stories) die.

I think you might have scared people off with your first post, with all those rules and what not.

Doom Tower sounds fun.

^ Dust is flying up it.

Doom Tower- This Tower is covered almost completly in soot, possibly used to Worship a Volcano. However, the tower is also beriddled with various Demonic Sign, which could also point to a Cult of Demon worshipers. Jibrille has commanded that if you reach the top you will get a wish....however it must benefit the forces of Evil in some way

While this Tower COULD be perfect, there are 5 other towers that no one has gone in, and 3 Towers already opened (And 2 Towers where at least 2 people are known) Are you Sure you want this Tower?

(Saying Yes means you cannot choose another Tower until you Finish/Fail/Not Post for 2 Weeks)

Oh, and Most of those Rules are so we don't have any confusion while we're doing this, ok?

Doom da doom doom, doom da doom DOOM...!!
Your wish must benefit the forcs of evil in some way.
Sweet. Time to use a bad guy...

----------------------------------

Ranto sized up the tower from a few yards in front of its door. He looked at the tower, then at the pint-sized skeleton standing next to him, then back at the tower again. He jerked a chain that was tied to the creature's neck, causing it to stumble forward. He bent over, eye to eye with the creature.

"You're sure this is the place?" he asked, icicles dangling from his voice.

"YES!! Now let me go already!!!" the minute monster shrieked.

Ranto scanned the horizon, studying the other nine towers dotting the not-so-distant landscape. He narrowed his eyes.

"And what about those other towers?" he said, motioning with his hand, "what's in them?"

"I don't know! I only know that this is the tower your book talked about! I don't know what's inside, I don't know who built it, all I know is it matches the picture you showed me! Now let me go! You said I could leave when we got here!"

"I don't remember that...."

"....WAIT! Don't..."

The creature protested in vain as Ranto sliced it two. The bones fell unceremoniously to the ground as Ranto sheathed his weapon.

"All right... let's see what secrets you're hiding..."

Ranto pushed on the front door gently, and to his surprise, it actually opened. He stepped inside.

*Ranto went into the tower. The Walls almost reeked of Decomposing Skin, Coal, and Dried Blood (If that has a smell). Ranto walked to the stairs, and started to climb, almost like he was flying. He reached the door and threw it opened*

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!

*Ranto saw the White Light change to Mountains, He was not only surronded by mountains, but was standing on one too, he looked around for why he was here, then suddenly...

He felt a Throbbing Headache.....Well, because someone jumped on him. The Short man jumped showing himself wearing a Shirt and Dirty Overalls over them. He wore Boots, obviously weighted, and a Link-Style Cap with an M Stiched on it. He wore a Shield on his back, which looked like a Turtle Shell. The Man had a Moustache, A Big Nose, and Gloves, common to his other selves. *

HM: IT'S-A ME! Mario!

*This Mario readied for a fight with the newcomer*

It's-a me, Rantio!

Owww.... I just got blindsided by a fat man in overalls.

Ranto stood still, looking at the Mario clone. Of course, Ranto had know idea who Mario was in the first place, so this did not strike him as unusual. He shifted his weight, leaning heavily on his left foot.

"Mario, you say? I am Ranto, of Mordor. You will let me pass, or you will die. You have no other options, do not ask."

Ranot shifted his weight to the right foot after his statement.

"I cannot-a let you past-a. The master says-a no one goes through alive-a."

Ranto shifted his weight to left foot as he answered, "Very well. Death is yours."

Ranto quickly loaded a small lead ball into his sling before he wound up. He twirled the leather satchel overhead three times before letting the projectile fly straight towards Mario. Mario, of course, was far too fast for this and leaped over the icoming lead ball, planning to stomp Ranto flat. But, as Ranto jumped out of the way, Mario saw what Ranto had been hiding.

All his shuffling had not been idle movements. Scraped into the dirt was ancient runic emblem, a cursed spell symbol. The figure had been traced in the dirt underneath Ranto and now Mario was going to land on it.

The moment Mario's feet made contact with the rune, the enchantment sprung to life. Streams of dark liquid spewed forth from below him, drenching him in the oily liquid and covering the ground with the sticky, tar-like substance. Only a quarter second passed before the oily fluid burst into flames, instantly igniting the hero and starting to consume him. The dark flames that leapt across his body were not ordinary flames; this was the darkness flame, fire from the demon realm. It could not be extinuished by normal means, and Mario's attempt at "Stop, Drop, and Roll" was in vain. And as the flames continued to burn away at his flesh, and his hair continued to burn and fall off, and his overalls and hat were vaporized, the demons appeared. Horriblly twisted representations of mankind's worst nightmares, ranging from the small to the enormous, grew out of the liquid and they themselves began to consume his flesh in a more conventional way, digging their teeth into his flesh and ripping away great chunks as the flames instantly cauterized the wounds.

"WELCOME TO HELL!!"

OoC:....DAMN, nothing else just DAMN I can't beat that......

The Mario stood no chance as the creatures ate at him. His lack of Magical Knowledge would surely have killed him....however, before The Mario character died, the white light took Ranto back to the hotel. Immeadiatly the smeel of Dried Blood came Back, and Ranto was surronded by Coal. By the time Ranto reached the stairs, he would be almost covered in soot. He continued his way to the top, the soot slowly coming off him. The soot would be off him completly by the time the Wicked Creature reached the 2nd Floor. He opened the Large Doors seperating him and his next Challenge*

BAM!

*The White Light dissappeared and Ranto was immeadiatly exposed to the Wind given to him, he then realized he was on a missile, heading for some enemy base. He turned, only to find a sword to his throat*

Kuro:.....Ah, finally, a Training Dummy....

*The Man looked like a Samurai, wearing the traditional Garb, and even the sword was Traditionally Made. However, Since they are on a Modern Weapon, there had to be more then meets the eye....*

Kuro: I will give you 10 Seconds to attack me. No more.....

*This would be a hard battle*

OoC (Again): Uh Oh, You Got a Zeva!

For the sake of storytelling, the Zevas are powerful Martial Artists, kind of like Kryptonite, and each has a color (Except for Kryp, he has Clear Style)

10 seconds? Ha ha ha...

OoC: As you probably guessed, based on my last post, Ranto is not very friendly...

--------------------

Ranto nearly lost his footing after being teleported to the missile; the wind whipping around him combined with the turbulence and the round surface under him made it just about impossible to stay on his feet. As soon as he found himself aboard the projectile, the force of the wind current dragged him off the side of the missile. He flew overboard, and saved himself only by whipping out his sword and jamming it into the side of the missile. Knowing nothing about missiles, he did not see a problem with gouging a hole in the side of the dangerous device.

Luckily, he did not puncture the fuel compartment or anything else vital. As he hung on to the side of the cylindrical metal bomb, he listened as his opponent challenged him to attack. The Zeva started counting down from ten as Ranto tried to pull himself back up.

After eight seconds, he finally managed to swing himself up against the wind and land back where he started. He stood to his feet just as Kuro said, "Ten!"

The swordsman stepped forward aiming to slice Ranto in two. Ranto, however, was very clever. He had no time for spellcasting; something more physical was in order, and he had a flash of inspiration. He grabbed the sides of his cloak and simply lifted them up, making himself into a living kite.

The air instantly filled his cloak and threw him forward, directly into the Zeva. Kuro's eyes widened as his opponent seemeingly flew at him. Ranto surged forward, abruptly stopped by the force of the atmosphere, and planted both feet squarely onto Kuro's chest. He shoved him back with all the force he could muster, picking the samurai off his feet and hurling backwards.

Ranto landed where Kuro had previously been standing, laying flat against the missile to avoid being ripped off by the force of the wind.

Would Kuro figure some way to avoid plummeting to his death?

*Ranto held onto the missile with all his might (Well maybe not all of it....), as he as he waited to hopefully get taken off this missile, however, a Zeva would not go down that easily. (OoC: I'm sure you know of how SSB players use thier Up and B move to hopefully grab the platform) Ranto only heard "EBONY ELBOW", but he knew that Kuro had already made it back on the missile. Ranto got back up, making sure the cloak doesn't push him off the missile. "So, You're pretty smart, huh? Well....". Ranto didn't get time to react before Kuro kicked him in the stomach, then he swung the Katana at him and yelled " Shadowken!" which cause black Fire to follow the sword in a much wider arc, Ranto was hit in the face and due to the wind flew back to the engine. Ranto landed on the hot metal as Kuro walked over....then he start to cut the missile. It seemed that he was trying to cut off the part of the missile sending both of them plummeting

Ranto would have to try something fast

^ I'll just do nothing else, don't worry :D

Divine Tower- This tower was said to be used to worship a Highly Powerful God. The pictures seem to point towards a Christian Religion, but the blood inside should say otherwise. Despite the blood staining the walls, there is a somewhat holy atmosphere that exists throught the tower. Jibrille has commanded that if you reach the top you will get a wish....however it must benefit the forces of good in some way

While this may look perfect for you, and the tower has at least 3 people revealed (Maybe). There are 7 other towers, 2 that others have chosen, and the rest are unknown. Are you sure you want this tower?

(Choosing yes means that you will be unable to choose again until you pass/fail/ not post for 2 weeks)

How am I alive? You hit my face with a *sword...*

The metallic clanking sound of metal against cranium vanished instantly as it died in the wind. Ranto lay on the top of the missile, stunned and unsure how whatever had happened had happened. His vision was blurry from the impact, but he could still see the Zeva trying to dismantle their arena right out from under them. He rose shakily to his feet, leaning back against the wind to avoid being carried to his doom. Kuro, on the other hand, seemed to be standing in the wind as though it had no effect.

Although Ranto's cloak usually came in handy in a scrap, it was now a liability. If he so much as tried to swing his sword, the wind would catch him and throw him for a loop. He struggled with the cloak, wrestling with it until he could get it over his head. Finally, Ranto freed himself from the cloak and tossed it at Kuro, trying to obstruct his vision as well as throw him off balance. The soft material of Ranto's clothing fluttered through the air and expanded in the breeze, creating the appearance that the cloth was alive. It stretched and warped and spread itself as far out as possible, even in the very brief flight time it achieved. Kuro brought his blade up in a swift motion and knocked, rather than cut, the cloak out of the air.

The cloak had not been the focus of the attack, however. Ranto had rushed in behind it, and the moment the cloak was out of the way, Ranto stabbed his weapon toward Kuro's gut. The Zeva was still in the middle of his first swing, blade pointed up in the air and the cloak flying off into the distance; there was no possible way for him to bring his weapon back down in time.

One of Kuro's hands released the sword handle and rushed downward, and he deflected Ranto's weapon with his hand! He then brought the sword down in a flash, leaving only a fraction of a second for Ranto to move. He used that fraction of a second to twist his body away from the weapon, though not nearly far enough. Kuro's weapon cut into Ranto's shoulder, nearly severing the arm. The blood poured profusely from the wound, dripping down the length of his arm.

It was at this point that Ranto realized he had gravely underestimated the Zeva.

Maybe this wasn't such a good idea...

"Having second thoughts?" the Zeva questioned, "Too late for that, I'm afraid."

Ranto silently contemplated his circumstances. The other warrior was clearly more dangerous up close, and from the way he had flown back up to the missile, his magic was not too shabby, either. That left Ranto only one option.

The Darkness.

Unforunately, he could not use the Darkness Flames in this environment. Even demon flame was still flame, and the wind would carry it away as soon as he conjured it. He had no time for a dark magic spell; the samurai probably would not stand still for the incantation.

Ranto lifted his left hand, making the ring he was wearing more clearly visible. It was a polished, chrome-colored skull ring with ruby gems in the eye sockets. The band was a plain gray metal, simply holding the skull in place.

The eyes on the skull lit up as Ranto drew on the power of the Guardian's Ring. As the eyes lit, four shapes appeared in the air in front of Ranto, forming what appeared to be letters. The shapes slowly increased in intensity, matching the eyes of the skull gem. At last, the hovering objects became recognizable: they were the four characters from the Japanese language that represented the four elements.

The four letters circled in the air in front of him, the faint light emitting from the ethereal alphabet cast a multicolored glow on the surface of the missile. Kuro stopped in mid-swing, not sure that striking the ring was wise. Ranto showed no expression.

"Explain," Kuro ordered him.

"This, my friend, is the power of the Guardian's Ring," Ranto revealed, "and it renders all but the strongest elemental attacks useless. If you were to try and throw a fireball or wind blast or anything, it would be absorbed. The only way to penetrate the Guardian's Ring is to use an overwhelmingly strong elemental attack, one so powerful that only a dragon or master sorceror could generate. Anything less than that will just be swallowed by the ring."

"Well," Kuro pointed out, "as you may have noticed, I have not used any elemental attacks. So what is the point?"

"It just looks cool."

Kuro growled and stepped forward; no more talking. However, Ranto had not explained the ring's power without reason. He was buying time.

Kuro was correct; he had not used any elemental attacks, and now that he knew about the ring, he would certainly not use them now. However, the source of elemental power did not have to come from Kuro. As Ranto had talked, the ring had been harnessing the force of the wind whipping around them. The force of the blasting wind around them was so strong that the ring considered it an attack, and the protective magic had been engaged. For the entire time they had talked, the ring had gathered the power of the wind inside itself.

As Kuro advanced, Ranto released that power.

The force of wind that came blasting forth from the alphabetical "wind" symbol was so strong as to defy classification; it was a tornado, a hurricane, and a windstorm all rolled into one, compacted down to manageable size. The top layer of metal was peeled off the missile as the wind blast erupted forth, revealing the internal components of the weapon. The two warriors were too distracted right now to bother looking, though. The ridiculously strong wave of air currents ripped toward the Zeva, but he just smiled.

"You think a little breeze will stop me?" he inquired.

Kuro raised his sword overhead and brought it down with a flourish, and his sword produced a shockwave. The vacuum of air projected from his sword sliced through Ranto's maelstrom, leaving an opening large enough for the Zeva to pass through. He stepped through the void and Ranto's absurdly strong attack passed by harmlessly.

Ranto's jaw dropped to the "fully open" position.

"My blade can cut through anything," Kuro told him, "...even the wind."

There must be some way to kill this guy...

"Ebony Elbow!"

Ranto had no chance to react as the attack slammed into him at nearly lightspeed, smashing him down the metallic ground. Deprived of his foothold, the wind picked him up and began dragging him across the explosive projectile. He frantically scrambled to grab the missile, but the smooth metal rejected his attempts. In his tumbling state, he could not stab the missile again either.

He finally recovered by grabbing the tail fin of the rocket just before he fell. The jet exhaust from the missile burned mere inches beneath him. Kuro wasted no time, running toward Ranto and preparing to impale him.

However, the element absorbing ring had already positioned itself around the flames coming from the missile's engine. The intense heat was being absorbed into the character representing "fire" and that flame was released into Kuro's face before he could swing. The billowing flames rushed towards Kuro, preparing to reduce him to cinders.

"Midnight Shield!"

Kuro raised some from of enchantment and blocked the flames. The fire was extinguished as it encountered an aquatic barrier surrounding Kuro. Ranto finally struggled back onto the missile and sized up this new threat.

"Your turn to explain, Kuro," Ranto demanded.

"Fair enough. This is the Midnight Shield. It's actually very much like your Guardian Ring, with a couple differences. Your ring absorbs the incoming element and stores it for later; my Midnight Shield produces the opposite element and neutralizes the incoming attack. Therefore, the shield produces water to extinguish your flame. Now... die."

Kuro took a slice at Ranto, and this was the start of a frantic swordfight. Ranto constantly backed away, playing defensively. Kuro was faster, stronger, and probably more experienced. He carved out gashes in Ranto's flesh all over his body, and nearly impaled him at one point. Blow after vicious blow rained down on Ranto, and his muscles began to fatigue. He could not keep it up much longer, but he had no opportunity to use any of his other tricks as long as Kuro kept slicing.

Finally, he could handle no more. Kuro brought his sword down from above, and Ranto's weapon was knocked away and off the missile. Kuro then brought his sword back up, and ran it clean through Ranto's already-injured left shoulder. Ranto gritted his teeth in pain and stumbled back, losing his footing and collapsing down onto the missile. The blood ran from this newest wound, flowing down his arm and pooling up on the metal plateing. He would have been blown away again, but Kuro planted his foot on Ranto's chest to keep him from going anywhere.

Kuro put his sword on Ranto's nose.

"Any last words?" he asked.

"Just one," Ranto said.

"...die."

Kuro understood at the last second what was about to happen. He looked down and saw it.

There, right next to his feet on the top of the missile, was a cursed spell rune. Ranto's blood covered finger tip drew the last line in the blood-formed emblem just as Kuro noticed.

The Zeva tried to escape, but as fast as he was, there was no chance. The spell rune activated, triggering the same trap that Ranto had used against Mario. The black, bubbling oil spewed from inside the missile, instantly drenching Kuro and the rest of the rocket. Mere moments after he had been soaked, the black oil ignited and the demon flame was back. The oil caused the flame to stick to him, and the wind could not put it out. Kuro panicked, like most creatures do when lit on fire, and lost his balance. He tumbled off the side of the missile, hurtling towards the ground below.

The demon flame charred his skin, disintegrated his eyes, melted his lips, fried his hair, incinerated his clothes, ate his nose... the list goes on and on. His efforts to extinguish the cursed substance were futile.

All this took only three seconds.

While still suffering from the flames, Kuro was even more horrified to find the demons materializing next to him. Surrounding him on every side was a myriad of demons, from the small to the large, and they pounced on him in mid-air. And just as they had done with Mario, they dug their claws and their teeth into him and tore away strips of flesh even as the smoke from his own burning body overpowered his lungs and rendered him unconscious.

Kuro's sword was all that was left of him to hit the ground some two minutes later.

OoC: ......Dear God......I love that whole post...... *Add Midnight Shield to Move List*

*Ranto reappeared at the 2nd floor of the Doom Tower, this time....A bunch of skulls surronded the area and were all looking at a rune. Ranto tried to see what he could do about his shoulder, but it had already stopped bleeding....heck, He couldn't FEEL pain on it. Even his cape was back, which was very confusing for this deadly mage. But he had no time to question such things, he wanted to get to the top. He went to the stairs and climbed until he finally reached the 3rd door and opened it*

LEROY- Wait, no we're not doing that.

*Ranto saw the white flash turn into an island, a C-Shaped Island, Ranto immeadiatly noticed several red flashes across the island*

Nyne: Hello, Mage.

*Ranto saw a fox appear out of nowhere, He was Bipedal having no Shirt and Normal fitting Jeans, his build was that of a normal fox, but he spoke fluent English*

Nyne: I'm afraid you won't be using you're Instant Death move on me.. While you dark Flames will still work, your Demons will die as soon as they appear due to my shield....I have several points scattered across the island, keeping the shield up through the battle. Oh, and destroying them all will only cause the bomb under this island to detonate and my transporter to activate, leaving me safe and you burning in h-

*Ranto responded with a punch to the face*

Ranto: Shut up. God, you speak too much.

*Nyne did not fall from the move, neither did he really move as he just turned in a circle to get around Ranto's Punch*

Nyne: Okay, you're gonna get tough I see....

*Nyne immeadiatly pulls out two guns from....somewhere. One was an average pistol, nothing too different. The other was an Enfield Revolver, usually seen in Westerns.....Except there was a strange aura coursing through it*

Nyne: Attack.....Surrender, Or prepare to die, you're choice.

No more instant death... ah, man.

I wasn't quite sure if you would mind my adding an attack to your arsenal, but I didn't know any of your guy's moves and felt it necessary to give him something.

Also, some questions:

Did all of Ranto's wounds just heal, or was it just the pain wearing off?

If the cape came back, did the sword come with it?

I'm going to assume that he was healed and he has his sword back; if this is incorrect, I'll edit the post.

Nyne: Hello, Mage.

Mage? What does he mean? Oh... perhaps he thinks the demons were soul-bound rather than merely conjured...

Nyne: I'm afraid you won't be using you're Instant Death move on me.

Instant death? I had never thought of it that way before... but I guess that *is* how it usually turns out...

Nyne: While you dark Flames will still work, your Demons will die as soon as they appear due to my shield....I have several points scattered across the island, keeping the shield up through the battle. Oh, and destroying them all will only cause the bomb under this island to detonate and my transporter to activate, leaving me safe and you burning in h-

*Ranto responded with a punch to the face*

Hmph. He just told me way more than he should have. And if the darkness flame works on him, I won't even need my conjurations...

Ranto: Shut up. God, you speak too much.

*Nyne did not fall from the move, neither did he really move as he just turned in a circle to get around Ranto's Punch*

Nyne: Okay, you're gonna get tough I see....

Nyne: Attack.....Surrender, Or prepare to die, you're choice.

--------------------------------------------

Ranto stared at the two guns with a puzzled expression on his face. He did not answer Nyne's comment; he was too busy studying the weapons.

"What's your problem?" Nyne demanded, "You've never seen a gun before?"

Again, Ranto was silent. The term "gun" did not ring any bells.

It's too small to be used as a bludgeon, and it has no sharp edges. What a useless weapon! Maybe it's a magic focus instead, like a sorceror's staff...

"Do you have nothing to say?" Nyne asked, "Fine."

Ranto suddenly felt a foreboding sensation creeping over him. His muscles shuddered, his entire body quaking with the feeling of impending doom. A chill ran up his spine as he felt the presence of death approaching. On the back of his neck, as well as down his arms, his hairs stood up on end.

Something's wrong here...?!

Ranto dove to the side, not even sure why he felt as though his own death was approaching. At the same time, a gunshot rang out as Nyne opened fire with both weapons. The enchanted bulled missed, thankfully, but the standard-issue projectile tore a hole in his left elbow the size of a golf ball. Ranto howled in pain as he landed behind a tree, curling his legs up next to him.

He now had a sense of exactly what the two "guns" were capable of, although he still did not know exactly how. The blood from his arm wound stained the earth beneath him.

-----------------------------------------

Nyne opened the chamber of his magic gun. Since Ranto was hiding behind a tree, a fire elemental attack would probably be helpful. Nyne placed two red bullets into the empty chambers of his Enfield.

While he was changing bullets, he heard a faint scraping from the other side of the tree, like someone whittling a stick.

He did not like this sound at all.

He raised his newly altered weapon and aimed at the tree...

------------------------------------------

*CRACK*

A hole appeared in the tree about a half inch from Ranto's face and a flaming projectile burned its way through the tree. Ranto no longer felt safe hiding behind the tree, and he leaped back out into Nyne's line of sight. He raised his hand and the Guardian's Ring awakened, the four characters beginning to form. However, Ranto did not want Nyne to know this yet, and he hid the signs inside his cloak.

Nyne leveled his weapon a Ranto again.

"I see," Ranto said, "your weapon is a flame elemental."

"If I want it to be, then yes," Nyne told him.

Ranto smirked. "You can't hurt me with flame, magician."

"Watch me."

Nyne pulled the trigger and fired off another round, propelling a fireball-coated bullet at Ranto.

"Got you!"

Ranto's protective charm exploded forth from under his clothing, and the symbol for fire intercepted the bullet. The heat and the flame from the attack were absorbed instantly into the ring, and the skull on Ranto's hand almost seemed to smile.

Unfortunately, Ranto still did not understand. Although the flame was absorbed, there was still a bullet flying at him. It scored a direct hit, ripping its way through Ranto chest. His sternum shattered, his lung was punctured, blood exploded behind him, a one large hole was left in his cape.

He stood still, traumatized by the carnage. His body went into shock, and he could not move. His heart worked against him as every beat pumped more blood out of his body rather than rejuvenating him. One of his main arteries had been ruptured, and he would be dead within a minute.

"Nice try," Nyne sneered, "but it looks like a modern weapon is a little too much for you."

"Ugh... blchh... unnh..."

Ranto slumped to his knees as the feeling began to leave him. His vision was blurry. His senses were dulling.

His life was fading.

Ranto finally seemed to come back to his senses, but it was too late. He had only enough strength to crawl. He pulled his limp body away, dragging his miserably wounded self back toward the tree he had been hiding behind earlier.

The Grim Reaper, Death himself, appeared where Ranto had been standing. He shimmered into view, flickering in and out of reality. He stood there, pale and looking as though he himself had died long ago. Hie emaciated skin and hollow eyes gave him a haunting, ghostly look.

Nyne shrank backwards, thinking he was doomed, but Death ignored him. It turned searched for Ranto, quickly finding him as he crawled away. It was then that Nyne understood that Death had come for Ranto.

Nyne stood there, tempted to laugh. Three shots, and this fight was over. One of the fastest battles of his career. And to think that he had defeated a supposedly powerful dark mage without even breaking a sweat.

Nyne followed Death and Ranto around the tree and saw Ranto lying in a pool of blood. He was apparently unconscious. His breathing was shallow, the mark of his quickly dying body. Death stood over him, waiting for his last breath. He held his sicle overhead, preparing to claim Ranto's soul.

Then, Ranto stirred. This was impossible, seeing as he had lost consciousness, but somehow, he was moving. The only part of him that seemed to be able to move was his right arm.

Slowly...

Painfully...

Impossibly...

Yet somehow, he lifted his arm. It weighed a thousand tons, with no blood left to give him strength. It was like trying to move an arm that had fallen asleep, only ten times harder. Just moving his appendage required every ounce of strength that the villain possessed.

Yet, he did.

He slowly lifted his arm and with his last ounce strength that remained in this realm, he pointed at Nyne.

No, not at Nyne... past him. Death did not even look. He had come for Ranto, and he would not be distracted. He would patiently wait for Ranto to die. Ten more seconds. Death knew exactly how much time remained.

1

Ranto's strength ran out and the arm collapsed. As his arm finally fell, Nyne turned to see what he had been pointing at.

2

And there it was.

*Again*

The cursed spell rune was clearly visble, carved into the trunk of the tree in the few moments that Ranto had been hiding behind it. This rune was incomplete, left that way on purpose. The summoning ritual diagram was missing; only the conjuring of the demon flame was inscribed. Apparently, Ranto would not bother calling the demons if they would just die anyway.

So that's what the scraping sound had been.

As soon as Nyne laid eyes on it, the spell rune engaged.

3

Nyne actually knew what was about to happen. He had seen the previous two challengers consumed, and he understood what this meant. It was for this reason that he screamed and ran, but did not escape the slimy black oil that drenched him. The oil also splashed over Death, but he paid no attention to it.

4

The black oil ignited, and demon flame had returned. The burning sensation that immediately engulfed Nyne was worse than he had imagined. He knew from watching Mario and Kuro that the flame was an otherworldly form of intense pain, that it was worth than death, and that it signaled his doom.

5

But he had never expected this.

The pain was unreal.

Horrible.

Unimagineable.

"Pain" was not even the right word.

Agony.

Torment.

Nyne screamed for moment before his voice stopped functioning. The flames burned his flesh, slowly consuming his body in the most terrifyingly painful death that history has ever recorded. His body became a temple of suffering, a gathering place for anguish, the definition of torment.

6

Mortal flame would eventually burn its victims nerve endings into cinders, and the suffering would end.

Demon flame would not grant this courtesy. The burning sensation would not go away, because it burned his very soul.

He wished for his own death to come faster, but it would not. The other two had been burned, yes, but they had been killed by the demons long before the flame could fully devour them. Nyne's shield worked against him, as the demons could not come. Instead, the flames would take him. And even as he tried to cry out for someone to kill him, the flames continued to burn his body and his soul until he thought the pain itself would kill him.

7

He gripped his body, flailing and rolling on the ground, trying to scream but having no voice. The muffled grunts echoed through the forest, and even the small creatures of the island felt his pain.

Then, Nyne looked up and saw Death standing over him.

8

The oil on Death had ignited as well, and the Grim Reaper was standing there, ignoring the flame. He stood, towering over Nyne like an agent of death, with the demon flame coursing across his body and making him look so terrifying that existence itself would have cowered away if it could.

Yet instead of fearing Death, Nyne reached toward him. He raised one skeletal arm, his bony fingertips showing through what was left of his skin. His mauled, broken hand reached up and took hold of Death's robe. He could not speak, but Death could read his eyes.

Take me...

Death, the only person left in the world at that moment that Nyne cared about, granted this request. His scythe came down in a flash, and ended Nyne's suffering once and for all.

9

Without even walking, just somehow... moving, Death was standing over Ranto again.

He raised his scythe.

10

And as he swung down to take Ranto's life, a white flash that signaled the end of the battle returned Ranto to the tower again.

He lay facedown on the floor of the tower, not wanting to move or breathe.

Am I dead?

*Ranto felt the pain go away, almost an in instant. He was still covered in blood....Or maybe it was that he was laying on a blood covered floor, either way... He got back up and looked around. He saw 8 Decaying Corpses, each with a sword wound in the back, facing a Large Skull.

It seemed there was more to this place than Ranto orginally knew.

He immeadiatly went to the 4th Floor and threw the door open*

ROOOOOAAAAAAAAAAR!

*Ranto saw nothing but Black Sand, with almost every 10 steps covered with bones of every single animal you could think of, he and his opponent were the only living things within 5 miles of here*

Pnoy: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! MY NEXT VICTIM!

*The opponent was completely Blue Dragon with Spikes running down his back, and a "Buzzsaw" on his head. Despite his look he was only about a foot taller then Ranto as he slowly crept up to him*

Pnoy: You will be the next victim of PNOY THE THIRD!

*Ranto immeadiatly was dumbfounded by that name. Third? A Dragon with an almost Human Name? Actually, he didn't know if could spell that name, let alone say it.... He didn't have time to as Pnoy immeadiatly shot flames at him. Ranto immeadiatly pulled out his protective charm, but instead, he saw Pnoy jump ahead of the flames and try to bite Ranto's head off. Ranto Ducked, then sidestepped the flames*

Pnoy: heh, heh, I'm too fast for yeh!

*With Pnoy's Speed, Ranto was going to have a tough time with him, especially if he were to try summoning the flames with no cover against a Speed Demon of a Dragon*
